The biggest mistake we see is a programme from morning to night and tired children by day two. Istanbul is big and its roads are busy; a good day with kids is built on a simple rhythm.
Morning: one main activity
Pick just one place for the morning: breakfast on the Bosphorus, a large park, or a historic site. Children are at their most patient in the morning, and places are less crowded.
Midday: lunch, then rest
After lunch, go back to your stay for a couple of hours. A nap in a bed is kinder to little ones than sleeping in the car in traffic, and the whole family recharges for the evening.
Evening: a stroll and a calm dinner
A short walk by the water or through a market, then dinner at a family restaurant with no alcohol. Head back early if there's a morning activity the next day.
Small tips that make a difference
Avoid crossing the bridges at morning and evening rush hours
Bring a light stroller; many old streets have slopes and narrow pavements
In winter, dress children in layers; it's colder by the sea than you'd expect
An age-appropriate car seat matters on every ride
This is how PARELO works: no fixed-time programme, just options for each part of the day, and every evening the family chooses what suits them for tomorrow.
